Concept Portfolio of scripts
Developing a
portfolio of scripts for potential script development covering a range of
genres and formats, the script concept will also identify the target audience
and practical concerns.
1 – Film –
That Green Gentlemen:

Plot: Quentin
an everyday man who is feeling trapped in his confined existence and commercial
society wants to escape and feel freedom, although initially fearful Quentin
joins a program to allow him to experience any situation that he wants and
acquire any possessions which he could want. Quentin is thrilled by the opportunity
to experience a world free from responsibility but soon learns that having
freedom leaves him deserted in an alternate reality where no one understands
him and now he is more alone than ever. Quentin begins to realize that he must
assess his mistakes and accept that real life comes with its ups and downs and
that he should not try to change things but simply accept life.

2 – Serial drama
– Living on borrowed time:

Plot: Living
on borrowed time is a serial drama that focuses on a group of University
friends who live in a world where your biological clock is determined by a time
piece. They are young, naïve and take everything for granted in life, wanting
to live life from a new perspective they write a list of things to do before
they die. The complication arises when they begin to reverse the time piece and
travel back in history to try and change the past, learning that you cannot
change the past and that everything in life is pre-determined they become stuck
in the past and cannot travel forward, will they find a way to return to the
future?
Tagline: ‘The
ink is running off the page and chasing off the days’.
Watershed
issues: Living on borrowed time would be suitable for audiences in their teens
as the language and visual content would not be explicit or abusive but the
specific time of the show would be at 9pm so this would be after watershed.
Budget: £3000
per episode.
Themes: Do
not try and change the past but live in the present moment and learn to seize
the moment of life.
3 – One off
episode Television show – Cartoon Journals of a superhero:
Plot: Mr
Purple is a local tradesman working in a business agency and commutes to work every
day. One day whilst travelling to work his hometown of Pasadena, California
gets struck by a huge meteor. With most life forms affected by the meteor Mr
purple seeks help from his friends Mr Green, Mr Gold and Mr Silver. With the
destruction high and the town left in turmoil, a superhero Mr Platinum arrives
to fly the civilians out to his universe of ‘Phoenix’. With the earth of the
brink of extinction and apocalypse Mr Platinum has a race against time to save
humanity.

charismatic tradesman who is beckoned by his demanding job, often forgetting to
cherish everyday moments of his life.
Mr Green: A
close friend of Mr Purple, very young and desperate for attention.
Mr Gold: A
very intelligent guy who has studies Geology and understands land masses and meteors.
Mr Silver: A
loyal friend of Mr Purple who is willing to help his friends in time of need.
Mr Platinum:
The superhero who wants to save the human face from destruction.

is precious’
Themes: Life
is short and often we cannot control our own destiny in this short lifetime.
4- Comedy
Film:
Mutant
Pumpkins and the cynic.
Plot: A
cynical man named Joaquin, who needs to travel to a comedy club the mutant
pumpkin to perform his set, enters into a sponsored walking competition in order
to raise enough money to pay for a taxi. When he arrives at the comedy club hilarity
ensues as Joaquin desperately tries to seek approval from all the comedy club
members.
Characters:
Joaquin – Joaquin
is cynical man who always sees the worst in things and the tragedy for him as a
comedian is there's nothing more he wants than to be liked. This proves to be
challenging in the comedy club.

Themes:
Obsession with Television and the need to reinvent yourself, cynicism and the
class system.
5 -
Television show – Happiness loves company;
Plot: Following
the life of a family who live in suburbia in a safe warm haven, their lives get
turned upside down when their daughter runs away with a local young boy from
the house across the valley, the family are distraught with their daughters
escape and worry how she will cope with life on the run. The parents organize a
local search party to find and rescue their daughter.

Themes: Happiness
Loves Company is being capturing the texture of youth and escapism, being free
to do all the things which you cannot do when you are older.
Tagline: ‘Youth
and Manhood’.
6 – Film:
Fantasy - A dustland fairy-tale:
Plot: Mr Feel-good
and Mrs New wave live on an idyllic planet called Heartland where all species
help each other with daily chores such as cleaning and cooking. Heartland is stunned
when an evil spirit enters the kingdom called Stoker and seeks to turn all the
children’s happy dreams into nightmares and destroy the crops for the families.
Mr Feel-Good and Mrs New Wave team up with the silver queen and monster to help
protect the city from the evil Stoker.
Themes: A
stumbling evil fiend wreaks destruction on a defenceless utopian city.
Certificate:
Parental guidance required as although content is not graphic or violence scenes
may require adult supervision.
Characters:
Mr Feel-Good:
A caring, loving father who is protective of his family.
Mrs New Wave:
Equally protective but often less strict and enjoys to spend her days in the
field of barley.
Stoker: A
sinister spirit which wants to plant nightmares in children’s sleep.
Silver Queen:
A loving and caring member of the Neebu Tribe.
Monster: A
furry bear who loves children and protects them from Stoker.
